The Greek island of Paros belongs to the Cyclades and is located near Mykonos and Santorini. It is not so popular, but no worse than its famous neighbors. The streets of vibrant Parikia are always full of locals and travelers, and in the villages, you will see traditional whitewashed houses with blue vaulted roofs.

Explore picturesque Naousa

The vibrant fishing village of Naousa is located on the northeast coast of Paros. It is about 11 kilometers from Parikia. At the height of summer, it is crowded, but the place does not lose its charm: imagine a labyrinth of cobbled streets, whitewashed houses, churches and chapels, and an old port with fishing boats. Pay attention to the fortress, built in the 15th century by the Venetians, and the watchtower, erected to protect against pirates.

Relax or exercise on the beach

Obviously, the main attractions of Paros are the magnificent beaches with the clearest water. One of the best beaches on the island is located in Livadia, a settlement located near Parikia. After driving a little more, you will reach Martselo beach, sheltered from the winds and well suited for families with children. If you still need waves, head to Punda Beach – this is one of the best places in Greece for kitesurfing. Water sports enthusiasts will be interested in the golden beach of Chrissi Akti, where windsurfing is practiced in windy weather, and kayaking and stand-up surfing in calm weather. The most famous beach in Paros is called Kolympetres.

Go Hiking

Paros has many hiking trails of any difficulty. One of the most popular places on the island is Paros Park, which occupies more than 320 hectares. It offers marked trails, fantastic landscapes, majestic cliffs and historical sites. Some paths lead to the British lighthouse at Cape Korakas. Others led to the monastery of Ai-Yannis-Detis, built in the 17th century. Outside the park, many trails lead to marble quarries, the most famous of which are located near the village of Marathi.
